The Food...ohhh, the bountiful food!

We had soooo much food. The counters were overflowing as we dished up buffet style. We had a deep fried whole turkey and 2 roasted turkey breasts.

We had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes w/pecans and brown sugar, stuffing, acorn squash, green beans w/peanuts(quite good!), corn, Uncle Ron's homemade rolls, cranberry jelly, our traditional 24-hour fruit salad(my Mom's made this since 1950 and my girls and myself continue to do so.) After a bit of a rest, we broke out the desserts! These included Pumpkin Cake in honor of Rachel's birthday, Pumpkin Crumble, Pumpkin Pie, two Chocolate Cream Pies, Apple Pie, Peach Praline Pie, and Fudge Ball Cookies. I may have left out something but let me just say....it tasted absolutely wonderful! What a blessing...to have all this family together and the abundance of food. I'm very thankful .

The Whole "Fam Damily"

Thanksgiving Day, there we were, at Leslie's for a wonderful day of great food and visiting with the whole "fam damily". This endearing term comes from the Matriarch of the family, my Mom. She always refers to any large gathering of family this way!! This gathering was from my husbands side of the family. All 8 of our grandchildren were there for the first time ever all together!! Also gathered with us were our 4 daughters, our 2 son-in-laws, my step-daughter and her husband, Fred's sister and her husband, and his brother and his wife. These 4 pictures show the grandchildren, the women, and the men although some faces aren't shown. I just threw in the shoe picture for fun!

My quote for the day

I saw this and thought it appropriate for this time of year.

True Thanksgiving means that we need to thank God for what He has done for us, and not to tell Him what we have done for Him.

Fast and Flurrious

As I was doing my makeup and getting ready for work today, Dad had me go back into the bedroom and look out the window. On the cars was the the result of a "fast and flurrious" snow shower that blew through over night. All it left was this little bit of snow on the coldest things....the cars!! Did anyone else get any? I read that upstate got a lot of lake effect snow.

Dozey Dog and Catnapping Cow

I bet these 2 fluffy friends look familiar to 2 of my grandchildren. Avery and Mitchell, the animals spend their day watching over Grampie and Grammie's bedroom! We set them on the bench at night so they can get some rest too. When we look at them we are reminded of you two. I think they would like more company, so....if anyone else(grandchildren) wants to add one to our bedroom so they can help watch and make some new friends, we'd love that!!!

Kitty Litter Cake Anyone???

The Halloween monster from Admissions made this cake for the afternoon party. I don't know how well received it was by the residents. I left early so we could get to Leslie's to trick or treat with the kids. It's made with 2 cakes, a spice one, crumbled up into the litter box with pudding spread over it and then a crumbled up white cake over that. Crushed up Vienna Fingers with some green food coloring drizzled over that adds to the "litter look". Warmed up Tootsie Rolls add the final touch. For serving she had a litter scoop. Cake anyone?!

A Tickled Pink Halloween and More

Every year the staff at work is encouraged to dress up. I make it a point to find something comfortable, easy and unique. I have a favorite website that has given me the greatest ideas. Here's me and my sign says it all! The plan was to wear all pink but I couldn't find pants that didn't make me look like a pink "pig"! I also had on more pink jewelry but the necklace broke early in the day.

The first picture is one of our Physical Therapy ladies who is pregnant. She added the face to her orange shirt. Pretty cute. The next pic is one of our Admission Directors as a very "scary" monster! Number 3 is our Asst. Director of Nursing as something she really isn't. Next is Wendy and Sharon, Recreation aides, as a basket of laundry and a flower garden. And last, we have Denis, one of the chefs and our up and coming rock star(for real)as...what else?....a rock star.

Tag - we're done!

Ok, Kate. This post is because you "Tagged" me on your blog. Unfortunately, it dies an early death here. I have no one to tag. Anyone I know who has a blog, which is you 4 girls and Q, have already done this. None of my friends blog and neither does my extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. This picture is of the flower arrangement that was sent to Beth in the hospital when she had Olivia. It came from some of my friends at work! We were very surprised. It was beautiful and that one "Stargazer Lily" had a sweet aroma that filled the hospital room. Thanks again ladies.
