An Anniversary Celebration

What a celebration it was!! 100 years of one of the best cookies ever made. I couldn't believe I finally found some Hydrox cookies today. Limited edition too. Well, after dinner you know what I did....ripped that baby open and enjoyed a few of the tasty creations. I really prefer these over Oreo's. I thought they went out of business. I hope they stay around and are easily found for the late night snacks we succumb to much too often!!

Do you recognize this person? Does this person recognize herself?? She probably won't see this because I don't think she even knows I have a blog and I don't have her email address to invite her. All the more reason for putting this picture up for the world to see!!

Whoooose out there?

As Colleen wrote a while back on her blog, she knows people are just reading the blog and not leaving comments. I'm wondering if that's happening here on "Grammie's Goodies". I think I might start to scan in old photos of family and friends(if I have any......pictures I mean. I have friends.) Maybe by doing that someone will write and beg me not to. I think I'll start with one of my sisters! Sooo, everyone(or anyone) If you're a reader and not a writer, I invite you to take a minute and let me know you're out there. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.

Now, as all 5 of us know,(me, C, L, B &K), we are probably the only ones who even know I have this blog. Oh yeah, Dad looks in once in a while(but not commenting). So maybe this post is pointless. We'll see.

Mini Vacation #2

This past weekend, Dad and I went to the 163rd Dutchess Co. Fair in Rhinebeck which is billed as the 2nd largest county fair in NY. We strolled around for a while visiting the arts and crafts and merchandise buildings and then we went our separate ways and I made my way to FOOD! Dad did too. I treated myself to dessert and had Apple Crisp...loaded with tasty apples and a great topping which included oatmeal(like I make mine) and vanilla ice cream. Yummy. We only stayed a few hours and then hit the road and traveled up to see Leslie, Chris and the kids for the weekend and into Monday. Dad helped Chris with a few "getting ready to move" projects, Leslie and I hit the local Goodwill and scamped up a lot of children's books, we all went out to eat at "Reader Robin" as Mitchell calls it(Red Robin) and we just hung around enjoying the 2 kids. It seemed too short but it sure is nice having them so close that we can zip up there for a weekend or even a day if need be. Soon, they will be even closer as they prepare for their next big move to West Point. Can't wait you guys.

My mini vacation #1

Well, I'm behind in my postings as Leslie reminded me this past weekend. I set a goal to try to blog at least 2x a week. My last one was on the 12th. I really am behind aren't I? Let me see what I can do here. As most of you know, Dad and I went to VA on the 15th to visit Colleen, Dan and the 4 kids. We took the train which was quite stress free!! We did a few field trips to IKEA(Yippee, I love that store!), The National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center which is located right in Chantilly, VA where Colleen lives, and the Green Valley Book Fair in Mt. Crawford, VA which can be found smack dab in the middle of farm country and is housed on a farm! We spent our time looking at tons of furniture, hundreds of aircraft and space artifacts and hundreds of thousands of books!!!! I'll include a couple of links if anyone is interested to read/see details. The book fair is awesome...books at 60%-90% off retail. I could only buy what I could carry back in 2 small suitcases. I still did pretty good. We spent most of our time hanging around the house reacquainting ourselves with Kevin, Quincy, Grant and Julia. It had been 2 years since we last saw them. Of course, it was great seeing you too, Dan and Colleen. We're so glad you are back on the East coast....a little closer to us for a while.

It's here!!!

Finally, the dryer arrived! The scheduled time was between 8:30AM and 10:30AM--guaranteed. Well, it showed up at 7:30 just as I was about to leave for work. I mentioned that they were a little early, like by an hour. They agreed but said it's better to be early and now I'd make it to work on time too. I didn't really have to worry because both the girls were here to accept delivery. By the time I came home from work, Dad had installed it and I was ready to test drive it. I did a load of clothes right away. It dryed great. I did a second load after arriving back home from a unexpected dinner with Leslie, Chris and the kids.(they were on their way back home from visiting Dan, Colleen and kids in VA) Thanks for calling us and suggesting meeting up. We enjoyed seeing all of you!!! Well, the dryer should be buzzing me in just a few minutes. I'm off to scoop up hangers.

Delivery is imminent!!!!

Very soon!! Very soon!! We are all so excited for the upcoming delivery. I didn't think it would be so soon but it looks like it will be next Tuesday. The date was set up yesterday. Kate and I have been waiting for this but, of course, Beth is the happiest of all because.........................

she won't have to lug her wet clothes to the laundromat anymore!! The dryer will be here on the 12th. Ha! I bet I had you all going for a minute thinking Beth was going to have the baby early. Here is a picture of it, or close to it. It's a Kenmore and it has a light inside just like yours Leslie.

Changes

Hi all, it's been awhile since I have posted. That's because I rarely have anything interesting to blog. I'd like to change that. I'm setting a goal to at least blog 2x a week. I hope I can pull pictures from somewhere to add to the blog because I feel that I must have at least one for each blog. One change I hope to make soon is to buy a camera!! I'm the only one in the house without a digital and I'm a bit frustrated with that. I have some ideas on what kind of pics I'd like to take so I'm going to have to do some research soon. Any ideas on what kind of camera I might enjoy? Remember, inexpensive is the key word here.

I'm also going to revamp my blog site and layout. I'm bored with what I have. I need a change. I came up with a new name for it while driving back from Gram's Sunday. I had quite a few good ideas. Ask Beth. She'll agree. I'll be asking her myself because....I've already forgotten what I chose for the title!!!! Rrrrrgggg. I'm going to have to start wearing a pad of paper and a pen AROUND my neck and make sure I write things down immediately.

My last change that I can think of to post at the moment is.....to try to firm up a bit, dewrinkle in places and add some sparkle to myself in preparation for my 40th High School Reunion in October. I have to look good for this! This is going to be the hardest change to make. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck.
