What I did at work today

Today was carnival day at work! Why?, you may be asking. The New York State Department of Health survey was deficiency free this year at our facility!! To thank all the employees for a job well done, we were treated to a mini carnival on the back patio. We had carnival food...snow cones, popcorn, hotdogs, cotton candy and nachos. If you won the "knock the ball out of the air" game you got a shot at the money vault. Real money, play money and lottery tickets were flying around for one to catch. It looked easier than it was. I caught two 1$ bills and a lotto ticket. Some of us also won(but I don't know how) a ticket to throw a pie at our adminstrator. He was a good sport!! I managed to graze his hair but someone else(good job Jane!)did much better than me.

I just wanted to show a picture of the red sea glass I talked about in my post on Jasper Beach. I think you can pick it out. It's right next to the real nice aqua one.

The Bear Room

When we do stay overnight on our trip's to Maine we usually stay at the Rostay as I posted a while back. Grampie took these pictures so the grandkids could see this uniquely decorated room! I'm very glad the stuffed bear head was just a play one!

These rocks are on Jasper Beach in Maine. This is a place we like to visit for its unique beach. When you park all you see is a wall of stones, large ones. You can't even see the water until you climb up and over the wall and then VOILA!! A magnificent stone beach. The closer you get to the water the smaller the stones are. Some are striped , some are granite eggs, some are red, green, mustard yellow, white quartz....the variety is endless. We spend a lot of time searching for the best treasures to bring back with us. They look their best wet or wiped down with a bit of oil. We have them filling the base of a lamp, in a vase, in the china cabinet(the very rare round red one Dad found one year) in little dishes placed around. Memories all over the house!

Lucky Ruthie???

Well, I'm hoping I'll be lucky at the end of this month. While I was on vacation in Maine, I went to the local Grange rummage sale in Corea. Some very talented ladies created this quilt to be raffled off. I bought a bunch of tickets but so did a heck of a lot of other people!! They're selling them right up to the day of the raffle. I was told by one of the quilters that this material is Civil War material. I think she meant it's all reproductions from material of that era. It's beautiful! These pictures can not do it justice. If I win, I'm sorry to say girls, I'll have to keep it for myself. I can't have my daughters fighting over it now can I? ;0)

Sleeping Beauty

I just found this picture of Olivia taken at church last Sunday. She fell asleep on Grampie's shoulder and slept through the "LOUD" worship service. She woke up when the music stopped as the message was about to be given. At that point I took her down to the nursery to play with all her little friends. This proves to me that kids can sleep through any kind of noise at home without the need for everyone to be creeping around trying to be super quiet! Isn't she just too darn cute?!
